Essex - 3 Suffolk - 1
Scorers : Anna Hubbard, Emily Defroand, Holly Bolger

Essex began the final day of the U16 East JAC Championship in fine form with a convincing win over Suffolk. Essex were on top from the start and took an early lead when Anna Hubbard pounced on a loose ball in a crowded D and cooly slotted home after just 5 minutes. Suffolk hit back 2 minutes later, in their first attack, equalising from the penalty spot following a mix up in defence which had resulted in Louise Burgess and Catherine Huckle somehow up-ending the Suffolk CF (Louise says she never touched her!!!). But Essex were deservedly back in front 10 minutes later with Emily Defroand scoring from a penalty corner. Essex continued their dominance in the second half and completed their tally through Holly Bolger who latched on to an Annabel Davies cross 15 minutes from the end. Essex could have extended their lead on numerous occasions but were continuingly thwarted by some excellent goalkeeping from the Suffolk No 1.

Essex - 10 Cambridgeshire - 1
Scorers: Emily Defroand (5), Annabel Davies (2), Anna Hubbard (2), Holly Bolger

Essex went into this match knowing that they needed to win by 5 clear goals to avoid Norfolk becoming East Champions on goal difference. The feat looked quite tough before the game as Cambs had played very well in their 1-3 loss to Norfolk earlier in the day. But Essex rose to the challenge and wasted no time taking an early lead through a stunning short corner strike from Emily Defroand after just 2 minutes. This settled the nerves a bit until an uncharacteristic slip by Louise Burgess allowed the Cambs CF space to blast a great reverse stick shot past Lucy Kirkby in goal. The Norfolk girls were estatic on the sideline but this just seemed to spur Essex on to step up a gear.... and the goal rout began! Within 10 minutes Essex had made it 4-1 with the goals going in at an alarmingly good rate. The whole Essex team were playing with pace, skill and determination and Cambs just didn't know what to do. With the score at 5-1 by half time and the Norfolk girls deciding it was time to go home (!), Essex did not ease up on the pressure and achieved double figures and a 10-1 win to take the East JAC County Championship in fine style.
Thanks to Brad and Paul for the excellent coaching and support this season and the girls can now look forward, with much confidence, to next season's national qualification East Championship.
